Assessment process

Once a completed application is received, you are issues with a reference number by email. It takes approximately twelve weeks for an assessment to be completed, although where possible, applications are closed sooner. Once, a decision has been reached, a statement of comparability is issued by post to the award holder.

Statement of comparability

This statement contains information on the status of the awarding body in the country where the award is attained. If the award is made by a recognised awarding body, the statement includes advice on the comparability of the award in Ireland by comparing it to a level on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).

Data Protection Acts 1988 and 2003

When your application form is received, we create a computer record in your name which contains the information you have supplied. This record is used solely in dealing with your application. In accordance with the retention policy of the Authority, applicants have nine months from the date of issue of this advice letter to query the advice contained therein, after which point the applicants’ file will be deleted and all documentation submitted in support of the application will be shredded.
